Re: Neocate Nutra?

CoopersMumma ·
I'm only new here but thought I would share my experience with Nutra... my son cannot tolerate corn flour or corn (other than in Neocate formula and Nutra)... Nutra is a complete food particularly for babies / kids who cant really eat and definitely is a godsend for those kids.. We tried it but Cooper didnt really like it and he is still drinking his Neocate so I stopped the Nutra.... our dietician and our team of paeds prefer babies dont have Nutra unless really necessary - but I'm in Australia

If he has enough foods to practice with, I might just wait on it. But again, that is me. We were on 6 foods just before B was 18 months and spent forever on 3-4. I think if there isn't anything to practice with or if it is the only way to fill a specific vitamin gap, I would push it more. But of course, you have to make the final call and you are a smart mama.

This is going to sound crazy, but my daughter could not tolerate Neocate Nutra and ended up at the cardiologist because the Neocate Nutra was causing her to have tatychardic episodes!! Anyone else experience something similar?

No, I think your perspective is right on. It can be great for oral skills, for allowing food on no-food diet, and for adding some nutrition as it is basically Neocate with corn starch added. That being said, there are kids that don't tolerate it- either for the corn trigger or for just that corn is too difficult to digest on a sensitive intestines.

Neocate Nutra?

So, our allergist wants us to trial Neocate Nutra.  I understand that the proteins are already broken down, and that it's iron fortified.  Are the texture and the iron the only things in the pro category?  I see that it has lots of...

Rice and oats? Confused

Britney ·
My 8 month old was given rice cereal with breast milk at 6 months, he tolerated great. At 7 months I gave him peaches and oatmeal baby food, he had his first FPIES reaction. 2 weeks ago I bought organic puffs and he failed those as well. Im very confused on what his triggers are since he tolerated the rice cereal, but failed the puffs and oatmeal. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Figuring out food trial fails can be very confusing! I would food test one food at a time. Do you know for sure it was the oatmeal or was it the peaches? Has he had peaches without oatmeal? What was the ingredients of the puffs? Just rice? A couple of things I learned over the last 2 and a half years: 1. Breastfeeding my son for a long time may have saved his life. 2. It can take awhile to develop a food reaction- my son happily ate rice cereal for an entire month before he had a severe...
