Re: Neocate Nutra?

CoopersMumma ·
I'm only new here but thought I would share my experience with Nutra... my son cannot tolerate corn flour or corn (other than in Neocate formula and Nutra)... Nutra is a complete food particularly for babies / kids who cant really eat and definitely is a godsend for those kids.. We tried it but Cooper didnt really like it and he is still drinking his Neocate so I stopped the Nutra.... our dietician and our team of paeds prefer babies dont have Nutra unless really necessary - but I'm in Australia

If he has enough foods to practice with, I might just wait on it. But again, that is me. We were on 6 foods just before B was 18 months and spent forever on 3-4. I think if there isn't anything to practice with or if it is the only way to fill a specific vitamin gap, I would push it more. But of course, you have to make the final call and you are a smart mama.

This is going to sound crazy, but my daughter could not tolerate Neocate Nutra and ended up at the cardiologist because the Neocate Nutra was causing her to have tatychardic episodes!! Anyone else experience something similar?

No, I think your perspective is right on. It can be great for oral skills, for allowing food on no-food diet, and for adding some nutrition as it is basically Neocate with corn starch added. That being said, there are kids that don't tolerate it- either for the corn trigger or for just that corn is too difficult to digest on a sensitive intestines.

Neocate Nutra?

So, our allergist wants us to trial Neocate Nutra.  I understand that the proteins are already broken down, and that it's iron fortified.  Are the texture and the iron the only things in the pro category?  I see that it has lots of...

Probably FPIES...?

AmandaS ·
Hi -I think my 9 month older daughter has FPIES. After a few severe vomiting incidents (including one that led us to call 911) and a google search for "barfs solid food" I discovered FPIES, and have met an allergist who thinks she indeed has FPIES. From piecing things together, it seems like her triggers are avocado and peanut butter and possibly rice and oats. All of the FPIES reactions started after multiple exposures to each trigger. We have just started food trials, with our doctor...

Hi, Well, I don't know all of the answers to your questions. We didn't do very well with any solid food at nine months old. We relied on breastfeeding, Gerber baby food (excluding his trigger foods of course) and baby oatmeal (surprisingly a safe food). He did super well at that stage. We didn't introduce most real adult food until about a year old, and it is going quite slowly. We do have a multivitamin that works for us- Poly-vi-sol with or without Iron (mixed with baby food- which we...
