Hi everyone, my daughter is 10mo and loves to eat. She has been diagnosed with FPIES 2months avo. Right now we we're told to avoid wheat and oat... This weekend we were out to breakfast and my daughter so badly wanted my eggs but I was scared to give it to her because I didn't know how or what it was cooked with. Does anyone have tip or suggestions with that? What to do? Or even any wheat free recepies?? I am having trouble figuring out how to cook without wheat. It seems like it's in everything and if it's not, oats are in it
Do you know what grains are safe for her yet? My 3-year-old son has FPIES to all grains (rice, oats, corn, never tried wheat), so we use the pseudo-grain quinoa instead. He has never tried eggs, since it seems to be on a lot of problem lists for kiddos with FPIES.
Rice and corn are both fine for her.we have not tried quinoa She's had eggs also.. the only reaction she's ever had was to the oatmeal... We have an appointment for a wheat food challenge but not until February
Most of my recipes are quinoa-based. You are right- a lot of the gluten-free infant food recipes contain oats- I often experimented in the kitchen with substitutions and would see what worked. Not sure what you have tested yet, but there are a few possible substitutes for oats like ground flax or rice bran. I mainly use quinoa.
Try to find a good dietician/nutrionionist. I've gotten a few good recipes from mine. Sorry I wasn't more help!
